Hair Begets Hair, Edo Salon
Form / Material
cotton, wood, waxed linen, synthetic hair, horse hair, copper, aluminum
Project Detail
In one sense, hair is the mark and identifier. In another sense, hair is the mark maker. With regards to this specific site of the salon, hair becomes the contained geometry, or shape by which the face, and evolving and mobile expression, is contained. On another hand, hair is the tool by which, in its flexibility, we create a mark- be it expressive or utilitarian. It is in this reflection that these wall pieces, abstracted from calligraphy brushes and their cases, are made.
All pieces range from the 14-16" to 18-24" range
